The Mad River MIST 12U travel softball team shut out the NorCal Pride 6-0 in five innings on Sunday to win the Legacy Sports Toys for Tots Tourney in Oroville.

McKenna Sargent pitched a no-hitter in the championship game to cap an outstanding day for her individually and an outstanding weekend for her team.

The MIST won all three of their games on Sunday and Sargent got the win in the circle in all three, striking out 17 batters in 16 innings, while allowing just six hits and one walk all day.

She was, however, far from the only standout performer for the young MIST.

McKenzie Coleman also pitched a no-hitter for the team on Saturday, striking out 14 and allowing just one walk in five innings, while Bailey Brown hit a game-winning two-run home run to break a late 1-1 tie in the MIST’s opening game to get the weekend started.

Catchers Olivia Hayes and Jessica Kaber each also had big weekends behind the plate, combining to throw out four base runners.

In the opening game on Sunday, which the MIST won 3-2, Taylor Wade drove in the tying run in extra innings before pinch runner Allison Mitchell scored on a passed ball to secure the win and send her team into the semifinal round.

The MIST 12Us will play one more tournament this year in Redding in two weeks.
