Claire Maples scored a team-high 12 points as the Eureka girls got the new season off to a winning start at Hercules High in the Bay Area.
Fresh off her NCS success on the soccer field, the junior standout led the way in a 46-21 victory, as the Loggers took control with a strong first half and came out of the starting gates with some intensity.
“We played good in the first half, and a little sloppy in the second,” head coach Michael Harvey said. “It was a good first game. The girls had a lot of energy and we learned a lot about ourselves.”
Moriah Bowles added nine points in the win and got the game off to a flying start with six points in the opening quarter.
Teammate Aniah Gaither added eight points, including six in the third quarter.
The Loggers (1-0) will play at Alhambra on Saturday at noon.
