By Ray Hamill — The South Fork Cubs’ playoff run is unfortunately over before it even begun.
On Friday, the Cubs were forced to forfeit their North Coast Section football opener because of COVID protocols.
South Fork was seeded No. 5 in the eight-person bracket and was scheduled to open at No. 4 Calistoga on Friday night.
The Cubs close out the season with a record of 5-4.
Five other H-DNL teams are scheduled to kick off the NCS playoffs this weekend.
On Friday night, Arcata will play San Lorenzo at HSU; Del Norte plays Archie Williams in Crescent City; McKinleyville plays at St. Helena; and Hoopa plays at Clear Lake.
All games are set for 7 p.m.
On Saturday, St. Bernard’s hosts DeAnza at 1 p.m.
