File photo – Ty Bauer was one of five Eureka seniors honored on Wednesday.

The Eureka Loggers celebrated senior night in style with a 3-0 win over Arcata on Wednesday, their first victory over the Tigers this season.

And two of the seniors got on the scoresheet, including Vic Vang, who scored the opener and assisted on his team’s second goal.

Fellow senior Luis Romero also netted in the win, scoring the final goal as the Loggers pulled away with all three of their goals coming in the second half.

“It as a very complete game,” head coach Eddie Garcia said. “Our defense kept them at bay the whole game, our midfield dominated possession and combined well with our forwards.”

The talented Tomas Paoli, who only recently returned from injury, got his first start of the season and added a goal and an assist, while Will Mooney also had an assist.

Seniors David Parra, Ty Bauer and Chiashi Her were also honored before kickoff along with Vang and Romero.

“Our seniors stepped up and were true leaders for the entire game,” Garcia added. “Overall, I was happy with the entire team.”

In other H-DNL soccer on Wednesday, Del Norte and McKinleyville tied 0-0 in Crescent City.

“It was mostly a good defensive display from both teams,” Del Norte head coach David Sanyaolu said.

The Panthers defense stood firm in the face of a lot of Del Norte pressure.
