The St. Bernard’s Crusaders were shut out in the second half at University Prep in Redding on Friday night, falling 28-16.
With the loss, the Crusaders drop to 2-2, while a good University team remains unbeaten on the season, improving to 5-0.
The home team had the better of the early exchanges, scoring a pair of first-quarter touchdowns to lead 15-0.
The second quarter, however, belonged to the Crusaders, who scored two touchdowns and a pair of two-point conversions to sneak ahead 16-15 going into the break.
But in a back-and-forth game, the Panthers rallied late with two unanswered fourth-quarter TDs to secure the victory.
Demarte Prudhomme scored the second of St. Bernard’s TDs on a two-yard run, with quarterback Drew Sisemore adding the go-ahead two-point conversion on a run.
No other details were available on Friday night.
The Crusaders open the Big 4 next weekend at home to Del Norte.
Foothill 42, Fortuna 0
It was a tough day at the office for the Huskies at Foothill on Friday night, as Fortuna suffered its first loss of the season.
In a bruising, physical game of football, the Huskies didn’t help themselves with some fumbles and interceptions in the red zone.
Matt Letter had some success running the ball for the visitors, finishing with 90 yards on 20 carries, but the Huskies offense managed just 170 total yards.
With the loss, Fortuna is now 3-1.
The Huskies kick off the Big 5 next weekend at home to Eureka.
Foothill improved to 3-1.
