Peterson an early bright spot for CR women


A pair of locals continued to be a bright spot for the College of the Redwoods volleyball team over the weekend.

The Corsairs fell 17-25-19-25, 15-25 to Napa, and 25-19, 12-25, 23-25, 13-25 to Porterville.

Former St. Bernard’s standout Josie Peterson led the way against Porterville, finishing with a team-high nine kills, to go with three blocks.

Peterson, a freshman, also had three blocks against Napa, along with four kills.

Former Eureka Loggers Makaila Napoleon also continued to impress with five kills, seven digs and three blocks against Napa, as well as six kills and three digs against Porterville.

The consistent Addi Slaybaugh also had a good weekend for CR, finishing with 11 kills over the two games, and four digs in each.

Likewise with Liberty Sateren, who finished with 14 digs in the two games.

Kallie Schoenbachler added four kills in each game.
