By Ray Hamill — Friday night’s Del Norte varsity football game has been canceled as the Warriors deal with COVID protocols, it was announced on Friday morning.

The Warriors were scheduled to play North Medford in Crescent City at 6:30 p.m.

The JV game will still go ahead at 5 p.m.

Del Norte is the second local school to pull the plug on a game this weekend because of COVID protocols, joining Eureka, while the Hoopa Warriors were forced to back out of their game at St. Bernard’s after classes were canceled for the week because of the air quality in the area.

The Del Norte Warriors have a scheduled bye on the weekend of Sept. 23/24 and could now fill that slot with another game.

They are scheduled to play again next week at West Valley.
