By Ray Hamill — With the H-DNL soccer season set to kick off next week, three of the top contenders on the boys side will face off against each other in a series of exhibition games this weekend.
The games will take place at Washington School in Eureka on Friday night and Saturday.
The host Loggers get the action under way against Arcata on Friday night at 6 p.m., and each team will get to play two games.
The Arcata Tigers, who have looked sharp in the preseason, will also play Fortuna on Saturday morning at 10, followed by a JV matchup between Eureka and Fortuna at noon.
And rounding out the weekend action, the Eureka and Fortuna varsity teams will face off at 2 p.m.
The Huskies, who have won the past seven league titles and were undefeated in the spring, got the new season off to a winning start this past weekend against Gateway.
The Fortuna boys scored two unanswered second-half goals to break a 1-1 tie and win 3-1.
