Jack Rice’s first start in five years was a successful one, as College of Idaho kicked off the new football season with a 42-14 win at Montana State Northern on Saturday afternoon.
The 2017 St. Bernard’s graduate, who led the Crusaders to a state title as a junior, was named the starter at QB for the Yotes earlier this week after winning a tight three-player battle in the preseason.
Rice completed 11-of-21 passes for 159 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing three interceptions.
He got plenty of help from an impressive Idaho running game that accounted for 307 yards and a defense that held the home team scoreless in three of the four quarters.
This Rice’s first season with College of Idaho which is an NAIA program.
