Wildcats close out with a victory over Hoopa

The Ferndale Wildcats won for the second time in three games on Friday night, closing out the H-DNL boys basketball season with a 60-51 win over Hoopa

Emmitt Albee capped another big season for the team with a game-high 24 points in the win,   as the Wildcats improved to 2-6 overall and 1-2 against Little 4 opponents.

Javier Lopez also had a good night, finishing with 19 points, while Lane Branstetter added 11.

A young Hoopa team led by one point after the opening quarter and continued to push the Wildcats with their best performance of the season.

“By far it was the most complete game we’ve played,” Hoopa head coach Augie Valdez said. “We did a much better job on the boards tonight.”

Daniel Minton led the Warriors offensively with 19 points, while Lane Campbell added 14 and Brendan Baldy had 11.

“I’m really proud of how much this team has grown in the last few weeks,” Valdez said. “The future is bright for Hoopa basketball, especially with only two seniors.”

The Warriors close out the season 0-8.
