H-DNL BASKETBALL — Huskies, Warriors both go to 3-0

The Fortuna and Del Norte girls teams each improved to 3-0 in H-DNL basketball on Monday night.

The Huskies got the better of McKinleyville 50-39, while the Warriors defeated South Fork 60-28.

Del Norte senior Jadence Clifton had a huge night and finished just one assist from a quadruple double.

The Warriors standout scored 28 points in the win, to go with 12 rebounds, 10 steals and nine assists.

A pair of freshman, Anyessa Bettega and Jasmine Palmeren, also impressed for the Warriors.

“We’re coming together,” head coach Justin Clifton said.

The Warriors play at St. Bernard’s on Wednesday and at Eureka on Thursday.

McKinleyville senior Cameron Heenan also had a big night, finishing with 20 points against Fortuna.

Teal Mostovoy scored a team-high 15 points for the Huskies, while teammate Isabel Crosswhite added nine points and Gabby Stephens eight.

The McKinleyville girls are now 2-2.

The Ferndale Wildcats also won on Monday, defeating St. Bernard’s 53-52 with a big second-half comeback.
