Fortuna’s Juliana Ortega-Miranda hit a pair of home runs for College of the Redwoods in game two of a softball doubleheader against Butte on Friday, but the Corsairs lost 10-4.
The CR women also lost 5-1 in the opening game of what was a make-up doubleheader against the conference leaders.
Ortega-Miranda had a big day at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with the two home runs and three RBIs in game two, after also getting a hit in the opener.
Samantha Caughie also had an impact at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 in game two, while Karyn Jensen continued her impressive season with a base hit in each game, including a triple in the nightcap.
Jaycee Morais also had a hit in each game, while McKenna Turner and Nas-Che-Wen Hunsucker each had a hit in game one.
Makayla Bernald and Kylee Dewey took the losses in the pitcher’s circle.
With the two losses, the Corsairs are now 4-12 on the season.
Butte is now 14-2.
The Corsairs will play two games against Feather River in Redding next Thursday, before returning home for three straight doubleheaders to close out the spring season.
