The Arcata Tigers continued to get some strong pitching on Wednesday afternoon, only this time they backed it with some quality offense as well.

Vincent Agliolo got the win on the mound at the Arcata Ball Park, as the Tigers got the better of the McKinleyville Panthers 9-1 in H-DNL baseball.

Agliolo allowed just four hits in seven innings, while striking out 12 and walking none.

“He’s had three quality starts for us this year,” Arcata head coach Troy Ghisetti said.

Mason Nichols provided the highlight of the day at the plate, finishing 1-for-4 with a home run.

Nick Parker also had a big day at the plate, finishing 2-for-4, while Isaiah Levy and Agliolo each had a double.

Alex Gorge, Miles Oliver and Chet Keasey each also had a hit in the win, as the Tigers improved to 4-2.

Corbin Eichin took the loss on the mound, allowing five hits and three walks in four innings.

“Eichin is a quality pitcher and our kids came out with a great approach today to limit our strikeouts and we were able to so some stuff,” Ghisetti said. “Our kids kind of put things together today.”

Austin Brown finished with a double for McKinleyville, while Eichin, Riley Bates and Jack Saso each also had a hit.

The loss drops the Panthers to 2-5.

The two teams meet again in a doubleheader at McKinleyville on Saturday.
