Dolcini a finalist for college player of the year

By Ray Hamill — Hailey Dolcini has been included as one of the finalists for the 2021 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, it was announced on Friday.

USA Softball listed 25 finalists for the prestigious award, and will narrow that list down to 10 on May 5.

Dolcini, a four-time Big 5 MVP during her time at Fortuna High, has been outstanding all season for the Fresno State Bulldogs, pitching four no-hitters, including two perfect games.

At one stage this season, she pitched a perfect game and a no-hitter within 24 hours.

For the season, she is 15-3 with an ERA of 0.97.

Dolcini and the red-hot Bulldogs play three games against Nevada this weekend.

Fresno State is 27-7 and remains just outside the USA Today/NFCA top-25.
