A seventh-inning rally fell just short for the College of the Redwoods women in Redding on Thursday, as they lost 9-8 in the first game of a softball doubleheader against Feather River.
Trailing by five heading into the final inning, the Corsairs scored four late runs to pull within one, but that was as close as they would get.

Nas‐Che‐Wen Hunsucker also had a big game, finishing 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Jaycee Morais was 2-for-5.
Grace Rosebrook, Samantha Caughie and Makayla Bernald each also had a hit for CR, which out-hit Feather River 13-5 in the loss.
The Corsairs also dropped game two of the doubleheader, falling 8-2.
Hunsucker was 1-for-3 in the loss and drove in both runs, while Bernald added a double.
Morais, Jensen, Ortega-Miranda, Caughie and Sadie Wilkinson each also had a hit.
The 1-5 Corsairs will play two games at College of the Siskiyous on Saturday.
