By Ray Hamill — A great debut season in college golf got even better for Arcata’s Avary Henry over the weekend, when she shot a personal best round of 78 at the Benedictine University Spring Invite.
Even more impressive, the college freshman hit a hole in one during her round at the St. Andrews Golf Club in West Chicago, Illinois.
Competing for Division-III Aurora University in Illinois, Henry’s score was good enough for third overall on the day, her third top-four finish at an event in a week.
The former Arcata Tiger was also named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Athlete of the Week, and that was before her impressive showing and hole in one on Friday.

And Avary isn’t the only family member enjoying a successful month at the collegiate level.
Her sister Hannah Henry, who is attending Lindenwood University in Missouri on a cheerleading scholarship, was there to witness Avary’s big round on Friday after her own recent success.
The sophomore helped the Lindenwood Lions win an NCA National Collegiate Cheerleading Championship earlier this month.
