On Tuesday, high school baseball and softball return for the first time in two years for most teams, with a busy five-week season planned.

The H-DNL track and field season also gets under way on Saturday at McKinleyville High School.

Baseball and softball games will be played on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, with the season concluding on May 22.

The action gets under way with four games on Tuesday, two each in softball and baseball.

Hoopa plays at Arcata, while South Fork plays at Ferndale.

The Wildcats baseball team will host the Cubs at Newburg Park in Fortuna at 5 p.m., while the Tigers host both games at 4 p.m., with the baseball team playing at the Arcata Ball Park.

Both Arcata teams will be back in action on Wednesday, with six games scheduled, three each in softball and baseball.
