By Ray Hamill — Larry Tracy wasn’t backing down from the challenge on Saturday.
As one of just two seniors on a very young Hoopa team, Tracy set the example for his teammates with one of the plays of the weekend in a game against a senior-heavy Wildcats team in Ferndale.
After the speedy Javier Lopez had broken free for a huge Ferndale gain, the Hoopa defensive back tracked him down from the opposite side of the field to make a touchdown-saving tackle.

“That showed we’re here to play,” Hoopa head coach Floyd “Cowboy” Billings said of the play. “That showed heart.
“He had a long ways to go, but he didn’t give up.
“He led by example.”
