Hamm leads the way in big final week for Del Norte girls

Senior Caroline Hamm closed out her high school volleyball career with one of her best games on Thursday, as the Del Norte Warriors beat St. Bernard’s 25-16, 25-23, 20-25, 25-10.

Hamm finished with a season-high 24 kills and four blocks in the win, capping a strong week for her and the team.

Fellow senior Sarah Peters added 10 kills in the win, while freshman McKenna Curtis had nine kills and two blocks.

Junior Caleh King also had a big game with four kills and seven aces, while junior Molly Slayton had 44 assists and five aces.

The win was the second of the week for Del Norte, which also got the better of McKinleyville on Wednesday by a score of 26-24, 24-26, 25-15, 25-22.

Hamm had 20 kills in that win, as well as eight digs and two blocks, while Peters had 15 kills and 10 digs.

Curtis added seven kills and two blocks, while King had six aces and two blocks and Slayton had 42 assists and four aces. 

Rounding out a strong all-around team performance, Renni Loftin had 16 digs. 

The Del Norte JVs also picked up their first win, topping Mack in three games.
