Cass Bell suffered a second straight pro loss at Bellator 256 on Friday afternoon, in a showdown between top-10 Bellator bantamweights.
The Humboldt County native and former Arcata Tigers wrestler lost in a decision to undefeated Jornel Lugo.
Lugo, who came into the showdown ranked No. 10 in the bantamweight division, controlled the fight throughout and won all three rounds, improving to 6-0.
Bell, who falls to 5-2, was ranked No. 8 coming into the fight.
The final stats told the tale, with the 25-year-old Lugo landing 71 strikes to Bell’s nine, including landing 20 kicks, which caused the former Tiger a lot of problems early.
The commentators paid tribute to Bell, saying he has no quit in him, while the fighter himself gave a shoutout to Humboldt County during rounds.
