
The Arcata Tigers closed out another sensational season in girls tennis by sweeping all six singles titles at the H-DNL championships at Eureka on Wednesday.
Keona Gutierrez won at No. 1 singles, capping her outstanding individual season with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Eureka’s Lauren Albertini in the final.
At No. 2 singles, Aimee Reiner defeated Fortuna’s Alejandra Agular, 6-0, 6-1 in the final, while at No. 3 singles, Kyra Alway got the better of Fortuna’s Lorelei Martinez in the final by a score of 6-1, 6-1.
In the No. 4 singles final, Melanie Luh defeated McKinleyville’s Scarlet Robinson, 6-1, 6-0, while at No. 5 singles, Judah White defeated Eureka’s Kalea Michaud, 7-5, 6-4, in the closest championship showdown of the day.
And rounding out a dominating day for the Tigers, Jasmine McKnight defeated McKinleyville’s Willow Beyer, 6-2, 6-1, in the No. 6 final.
