Arcata girls continue to roll in H-DNL tennis


The Arcata Tigers improved to 5-0 in H-DNL girls tennis on Tuesday, with another comprehensive win.

The unbeaten Tigers took care of business against McKinleyville by a score of 7-0.

Kyra Alway continued her impressive season with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Mack’s Allison McCray at No. 1 singles, while teammate Melanie Luh also won, defeating Scarlett Robinson, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2.

At No. 3 singles, Astreya McKnight defeated Hannah Jacobs, 6-2, 7-6(4), while at No. 4, Jasmine McKnight got the better of Asia Brunell by a score of 8-0.

Also winning for the Tigers, Sierra Sobota defeated Sofie Sundberg, 8-0; Keira Tatro defeated Willow Beyer, 8-4; and Trinity Hamm defeated Shanna Hodges, 8-3.

Next up on Saturday, the Tigers play at Fortuna and McKinleyville hosts Eureka.

The H-DNL championships will take place next week at Eureka.
