UPDATE – Flagler lost the semifinal, 77-46.

By Ray Hamill — Thomas Nelson and the Flagler College men’s basketball team has reached the Final Four of the NCAA Division-II basketball tournament.

Nelson, a junior forward, joined the high-flying Lions last year after a standout year at CR, where he was named all-state and helped lead the Corsairs to a conference title and playoff win.

On Wednesday night, the Lions defeated Truman State 70-69 in the tourney quarterfinals.

The No. 3 seeds will play No. 2 Northwest Missouri State in Thursday night’s semifinal at 6:45 p.m. Pacific time.

The game will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.

Nelson has played just limited minutes this season for the senior-heavy Lions, but has brought his winning touch to the squad.

In the past five seasons, Nelson has won five conference titles with four different teams, and now he can add Final Four appearance to his accomplishments.
