Hoopa football cleared to practice; Eureka to play Mack in week two

By Ray Hamill — The Hoopa Warriors will begin football practice on Tuesday after being given the go-ahead to take the field.

Because of COVID cases in the Hoopa Valley, the Warriors were unable to begin practice last week along with the rest of the H-DNL.

Coaches and players will take care of final details on Monday before taking the field on Tuesday afternoon.

Unfortunately, the Warriors will not be able to play until week three of the season, after they have completed the mandatory number of required practices.

That means their scheduled games against Fortuna B next week and Eureka the following weekend have been canceled.

The Warriors will now open the season at home to South Fork on April 2.

They will also play at St. Bernard’s in week four and at Ferndale in week five.

The week-two cancelation means Eureka will now play at McKinleyville that weekend, with the Fortuna B team having a bye on the opening two weekends.
