By Ray Hamill — The Humboldt-Del Norte League will begin the process of putting together an all-local schedule for all sports next week, including football.
The league ADs will meet to discuss and develop the schedules, with a proposal expected to go before the league principals later this month on September 23.
Last month the H-DNL voted almost unanimously to schedule three shortened sports seasons for the school year, running from December to June, as opposed to the state-wide model of two seasons during the same timeline.
This will prevent local multi-sport student athletes from having to choose one sport over another in what otherwise would have been a very busy spring for prep sports.
All prep sports in the state are currently on hold due to the ongoing pandemic.
The H-DNL still must receive clearance for the alternative schedule from the North Coast Section, which will address the proposal on Oct. 2.
