By Ray Hamill — With two events remaining on the schedule, the race for the season championships are heating up at the Redwood Acres Raceway.

Nowhere more so than in the Bombers and Mini Stocks divisions, with little separating the frontrunners.

Donnie Brown and Sam Brown are deadlocked atop the standings in the Bombers division with 102 points apiece, with Bridget Steeves 25 points back in third.

Things are almost as tight in the Mini Stocks, with Gary Klientobe (89 points) holding a slender lead over CJ Dalton (87), with Brett Murrell also in the mix and just four points further back in third.

Adding to the excitement, raceway officials announced on Wednesday that non-members still have until the next event on September 12 to sign up and they will be eligible to earn points for their earlier finishes.

To qualify for the season championship drivers must be members of the raceway.

In the Late Models division, Dustin Walters (96 points) holds a sizable advantage in the race for the season championship, with Ed Rasmussen (77) and David Henderson (31) rounding out the top three.

In the Legends division, meanwhile, Dane Nissen leads the way with 94 points, with James Nichols right on his tail with 90 points and Tyler Krupa in third with 82.

In the Roadrunners division, Bryan Brandt’s two main event wins have put him in the driver’s seat in the race for the season championship.

Brandt currently has 118 points, ahead of JR Brandt (106) in second and Jeremiah Martin (91) in third.
