Copeland pulls away for second straight main event win

By Ray Hamill — Derek Copeland pulled away from the rest of the field on his way to a dominating victory in the Legends division main event at the Redwood Acres Raceway on Saturday.

Copeland took the lead early in the 35-lap featured race, quickly opening up a sizable advantage and never appearing in danger of losing after that.

It was Copeland’s second straight main event win in the division.

David Dunlap placed second, followed in turn by Landon Green, James Nicoles and Tyler Krupa.

In the Late Models division, Dustin Walters took the main event, with Eugene Palmer and Ed Rasmussen placing second and third, respectively, for the second straight race.

In the Bombers division, Loren Powers Jr., continued his impressive season with a second main event victory.

Powers has now placed in the top three in each of the last three main events.

Ryan Walters was second, followed by Donnie Brown, Sam Brown and Jordan Krupa.

In the Mini Stocks, Eric O’Ferrall took the checkered flag in the main event, the fourth different winner in four races in the division this season.

Gannon Cyphers placed second, followed by Nick Ford and CJ Dalton.

And rounding out a busy day of action at the local track, Leroy Marsh Jr., paced the field in the Roadrunners division, with Jeremiah Martin in second, his third top-two finish of the season.

JR Brandt was third, followed by Wayne Marsh and Lexi Coleman.
