The California Collegiate Athletic Association announced this week that Humboldt State men’s and women’s cross country head coach Jamey Harris has been named to the conference’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
“I’m honored and excited to serve on this committee,” Harris said. “I think it’s very much needed and I hope we will be effective in taking actions that will be impactful within the conference and on all of our campuses.”
Harris has been in charge of the Lumberjack men’s and women’s cross country program since 2017. He is also the assistant men’s and women’s track and field coach.
The committee was created this summer in response to nationwide movements to combat systemic racism, and was established to examine ways that the conference can not only talk about the issues that cause division, but have a direct impact on the future of the member institutions.
Each of the conference’s 12 member-institutions has one voting representative on the committee.
