The Humboldt Eagles 19Us continued to impress at the plate on Friday, securing another road win, 14-6 over the Medford Mustangs.
The Eagles, who have been explosive offensively recently, carried that momentum into Friday’s game, out-hitting Medford 12-6 and racking up nine runs in the top of the seventh to pull away.
Landon Gomes led the way with two hits and a pair of RBIs, including a home run, while teammate Keenan Morris added a triple and a double and also drove in a pair of runs.
Likewise, Cameron Saso and Cole Ayala each finished with two hits in the win, including a triple by Saso, as the Eagles improved to 29-7.
Ayala also drove in two runs.
Saso got the win on the mound in relief of starter Caleb Ruiz, with the Eagles overcoming a couple of deficits before pulling away late.
Trailing 3-1 early on, the Eagles scored twice in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game, but the Mustangs answered immediately with three more runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Humboldt, however, got the better of the later exchanges, closing out the game with 11 unanswered runs.
Zac Anderson added a double and two RBIs in the win, while Ruiz and Jaden Gorge each had a hit and an RBI.
Lane Thrap rounded out an impressive day at the plate for the Eagles, finishing 1-for–3.
Ruiz pitched six innings, allowing six hits and seven walks and striking out seven.
Parker Rodgers and Saso combined to pitch the final two innings, holding the Mustangs hitless down the stretch.
