RAR prepares for more racing action this weekend

Ray –

The Redwood Acres Raceway is gearing up for a second day of racing action this weekend, with five divisions scheduled to compete and a sizable purse up for grabs.

The racing will take place on Saturday, beginning at 3 p.m., with the action presented by North Coast Lighting & Electric and featuring the Late Models, Legends, Bombers, Mini Stocks and Roadrunners.

Once again, unfortunately, no fans will be allowed in attendance, but the racing will be streamed live online.

Thanks to some recent fundraising efforts by raceway officials, a purse of $1,500 will be up for gabs for the Legends, with $1,000 prize money for both the Late Models and Bombers.

One driver who impressed in the season opening event earlier this month is David Miller, who held off a late surge by Dustin Walters to take the opening main event in the Late Models division, with defending series champion David Henderson in third.

The Legends Division is also off to an exciting start, with Chris Lawrence holding on for the opening main event victory despite some late pressure from Chris Sarvinski, who spun off at the final turn.

An entertaining opening day of racing action also saw some track records fall, with Brett Murrell (Mini Stocks) and Brandon White (Bombers) setting new marks in qualifying.

Both also won their opening main events, while the Roadrunner division saw a first-time winner in Jeremiah Martin, who dominated on the way to victory.

Restrictions will remain in place in the pit area this weekend due to the pandemic.
