By Ray Hamill — After a successful return to action last weekend, the Redwood Acres Raceway is now scheduled to hold a second day of racing on August 1.
The local raceway was forced to cancel four race days this year because of the ongoing pandemic, before finally beginning the season two months later than planned.
No fans were in attendance at the season opener, with the gathering limited to just drivers, teams and officials, and social distancing measures in place.
And the raceway seems to have done a good job of following the guidelines established with county health officials, with people in attendance wearing a face mask when outside the pit stalls and maintaining adequate social distancing.
While fans were not in attendance, the action was streamed live online.
Raceway officials admitted there were some early hiccups with the broadcast but said the problem has been taken care of and it shouldn’t be a problem going forward.
In other local motor sports news, the Humboldt Outlaw Karts also returned to action on Saturday, with restrictions in place.
