The McKinleyville Little League has been forced to cancel its summer season, the association announced on Wednesday.

The announcement was made on the association’s Facebook page and comes after weeks of trying to find a way to compete.

“McKinleyville’s Little League submitted a thorough safety plan to begin the season July 1, but the health department has denied it,” the statement read, adding that “The MLL Board has worked tirelessly on trying to get approval for a season, unfortunately it is out of our hands.”

  1. So sad for our players and families. Especially our 12 year old players. We are hoping possibly to still play a fall ball season, possibly in September and would still let our 12’s play. But as we know it all depends on how this corvid pandemic issue works out😕😒stay safe folks❤⚾️
