By Ray Hamill — Bode Joyner’s big day at the plate highlighted a successful return to action for the Humboldt Eagles 19U American Legion baseball team on Friday.
Joyner finished 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs to lead the Eagles to a 12-2 win over the NorCal Nationals in game two of a doubleheader, after they had taken the opener 5-0.
“Bode Joyner had a monster game,” Eagles head coach Matt Tomlin said. “He hit the heck out of the ball.”

Cameron Saso and Landon Gomes each had hits in both games.
Saso had an RBI double in the opener and followed that with a two-RBI single in the bottom of the first inning of game two.
Gomes also looked in mid-season form, finishing with three hits and an RBI over the two games.

The Eagles will continue a busy weekend of games with a doubleheader against the Sacramento Better Baseball. on Saturday afternoon.
The games will be played at St. Bernard’s with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
