Former Fortuna High standout Hailey Dolcini has been named to the 2020 All-Mountain West Team in softball after an — yet shortened — spring season playing for Fresno State.
Dolcini was one of three all-conference selections for the Bulldogs, who were 21-4 and had risen to No. 23 in the nation when the season was canceled due to COVID-19.
“Dolcini was a rock in the circle,” Fresno State head coach Linda Garza told gobulldogs.com. “She dominated, and I’m proud of her mental game. She rose to every level and found ways to beat hitters.”
Dolcini certainly dominated in the circle, going 10-1 with four shutouts and posting an ERA of 1.51.
The 2017 Fortuna graduate had 77 strikeouts and posted a memorable win over No. 3 Texas.
The junior ace has now earned all-conference selections in both seasons with the Bulldogs.
Dolcini also was named conference pitcher of the week twice during the shortened season, the only player in the conference to earn multiple weekly awards this season.
