By Ray Hamill — COVID-19 may have brought a premature end to the local high school sports seasons, but the virus can’t stop the Logger ESPYs.
This year the annual awards will feature a different format due to the ongoing lockdown, but the good news is they are going ahead.
Instead of a ceremony held on one night, this year’s ESPYs will be spread out over nine days, with separate awards announced on each day, beginning on Monday and running through May 12.
The awards honor the school’s senior student athletes.
The first awards to be handed out will be for Most Inspirational Male and Female Athletes, and all awards will be announced through social media, including the Eureka High Facebook page.
The schedule of awards continues as follows …
Tuesday — Best Male and Female Individual Performance
Wednesday — Male and Female Breakthrough Athlete
May 7 — Male and Female Athlete of the Year
May 8 — Team of the Year
May 9 — Game of the Year
May 10 —Biggest Upset of the Year
May 11 — Jay Willard Award
May 12 — Most Scholastic Male and Female Athlete
