A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family of former HSU player Chad Danielson.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for former Humboldt State player and coach Chad Danielson’s family, after he died from a fatal stabbing in the San Diego area last week.

Danielson, who was captain of the 1994 HSU men’s soccer conference championship team, was killed in his front yard on Friday April 10 on his way home from an early morning walk with his dog.

It was his 45th birthday.

On Friday, Jennifer Ramos, 22, was arrested on suspicion of the murder. Police say there is no known motive and that Ramos did not know Danielson.

Danielson, who was a goalkeeper for the Jacks for four years in the mid 90s and later was an assistant coach under Alan Exley for two years, is survived by his wife Joy, daughter Elizabeth, 14, and son Oliver, 12.

He worked as a physical education instructor at Jefferson Middle School.

In a statement released this week, Danielson’s family described him as a “kind, gentle and beloved family man” who was “tragically murdered on the morning of his birthday, with a table full of unopened birthday presents waiting for him to celebrate with his family.

“It’s a random and senseless act that shattered an extremely close-knit family, a large and loving extended family, and is a profound loss for all who knew and loved him – including his students, parents, fellow teachers and the greater Oceanside community.”
