By Ray Hamill — The Redwoods Acres Raceway has been forced to cancel the season opening race night on May 2 due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
The raceway announced the news on Monday, while also canceling a scheduled practice session on April 16, as was expected.
The new season opening night is now tentatively scheduled for May 16.
In a press release, the raceway said, “Because of the nature of the coronavirus and the fluid situation that is occurring daily because of it, more cancelations may be made for future races. RAR officials have every intention of running as much of the 2020 season as possible and race dates that may be canceled could potentially be rescheduled later in the year.”
The press release added that it may not be possible to reschedule canceled events.
With no racing action this month, the raceway will continue to broadcast classic races on its Facebook page throughout the month every Saturday evening.
