By Ray Hamill — The California Interscholastic Federation and the 10 section commissioners met on Tuesday and announced that they are leaving the door open for now on the spring sports postseasons.

The CIF and the commissioners will meet again on April 3 to discuss the situation further.

According to a press release, “While the time may come when we have to cancel postseason events, today is not that day.

“In anticipation of further guidance and directives issued by federal, state and local government agencies regarding COVID-19, the CIF has not determined the future of spring sports events at this time and intends to reconvene with the 10 Section Commissioners on April 3 to revisit this issue.”

Earlier in the day, the H-DNL postponed a meeting scheduled for Wednesday to discuss the situation. No local sports are expected to take place until at least mid-April with all local schools expected to be closed until then.

“I don’t see us rescheduling a meeting until schools are back in session,” league commissioner Jack Lakin said.
