By Ray Hamill — St. Bernard’s announced on Sunday afternoon that all sports are being shut down indefinitely amid concerns over COVID-19.

The decision includes all practices and games.

The school also announced on Sunday that it will be closed for face-to-face instruction for the next two weeks and all classes will move to remote learning.

“The health of our students and staff is our priority. We will do our best to ‘flatten the curve’ of infection through social distancing,” principal Paul Shanahan said in a press release.

The Crusaders were scheduled to play Eureka in softball and both Fortuna and McKinleyville in baseball on Monday, but all three games have now been canceled.

The Northern Humboldt Union High School District also announced on Saturday evening that all of its schools would be closed for the next week.
