By Ray Hamill — Former Arcata standout Vanessa Holland will return to the North Coast on Thursday night when the Chico State women’s basketball team plays at Lumberjack Arena.
Holland, a 2017 Arcata grad, is in her third season with the Wildcats, who are in contention for a top-four seed in this year’s California Collegiate Athletic Association tournament with two games remaining.
The 5-foot-7 junior guard has had an impact off the bench this season, averaging 3.8 points a game in 15.3 minutes.
She scored eight points in the first meeting against HSU earlier in the campaign.
Holland is a dangerous perimeter shooter, shooting 36 percent from downtown, and is third on the team with 23 3-pointers.
The Wildcats are 16-10 on the season and tied for fourth in the conference standing with a record of 12-8.
The Jacks come into the showdown, which will be their last game of the regular season, guaranteed a top-eight finish in the CCAA.
They are 11-10 in conference and 15-11 overall.
Game time is set for 5:30 p.m., with the HSU and Chico men playing at 7:30 p.m.
