The Shasta Knights have struggled in baseball this season and are riding a six-game losing streak heading into conference play, but former Arcata standout Jaden Gorge has been one of the few bright spots.
Gorge hit in all three games against Canada last weekend, finishing the series 5-for-12 with three RBIs.
For the season Gorge is now batting .278 for the 2-10 Knights.
The former Tiger is one of several H-DNL players playing for Shasta, including Cole Harper, who has also gotten hot at the plate recently.
The former Del Norte player is batting .333 in limited action so far this season and has hits in his last two appearances.
Fortuna’s Cody Emmons is batting .182 with the team, while Eureka’s Brady Munson has made six appearances on the mound as he adjusts to the collegiate game.
The Knights will play at College of the Redwoods in late March.
Another former Logger, Ethan Fischel, is enjoying a nice start to the season at D-III Willamette.
The 2018 Eureka grad is batting .250 in his sophomore season with the Bearcats (3-4) and was 1-for-4 with a pair of RBIs in an 11-6 loss to Lewis & Clark on Sunday.
Fischel, who will play for the Humboldt Crabs this summer, has hit in three straight games.
Fortuna’s Kokko Figueiredo is also enjoying plenty of success early in the season playing at Cal State Monterey Bay.
Figueiredo, a Humboldt Crab for the past two summers, is batting .359 for the 4-6 Otters and has hits in eight of the 10 games, including three doubles and eight RBIs.
