Former Arcata standout Kaylie McCracken led Whitman College to a conference championship in women’s basketball over the weekend, scoring a game-high 18 points in a 70-53 win over closest challenger George Fox on Friday night.

McCracken is enjoying a big sophomore season competing for the NCAA Division-III Blues, who are No. 7 in the nation and clinched the conference championship outright with a 72-46 win over Pacific on Saturday.

McCracken, a 2018 Arcata graduate, added six rebounds in Friday’s win, while shooting 6-of-7 from the field.

Her 18 points were her second highest total of the season.

On Saturday, she scored six points and added three rebounds and a couple of steals.

With the two wins, the Blues improved to 13-1 in the Northwest Conference and 21-2 overall, with two games remaining.

The Whitman women are expected to make a deep run in the playoffs.
