Humboldt State’s Jackson Strong tied a school record with his 10 3-pointers on Thursday night, but it wasn’t enough as the Jacks fell 81-67 to visiting Cal Poly Pomona at Lumberjack Arena in men’s basketball.
Strong scored a game-high 31 points in the loss as the HSU men fell to 4-13 in conference and 8-14 overall.
In women’s action, HSU defeated the Broncos 72-69, overcoming a seven-point halftime deficit with a big third quarter, outscoring the visitors 25-16 for the period.
The ever-dangerous Alexia Thrower finished with a double-double for the home team, scoring 24 and pulling down 13 rebounds.
Tyra Turner added 16 points and seven assists, inching her closer to the all-time school record for the latter, while Gabrielle Carbajal added 16 points.
The HSU women are now 8-9 in conference and 12-10 overall.
Both HSU teams will host Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday evening.
