PREP BOYS ROUNDUP — Tigers, Huskies both fall at AIBT

The Arcata Tigers lost a tournament championship game for the second straight weekend on Saturday, falling 51-41 to Piner to close out their own tournament.

Arcata led by three at halftime, but was outscored in each of the final two quarters.

Kai Purcell led the Tigers with 13 points, while Brandon Bento-Jackson, Mason Railsback and Jack Taylor each finished with seven points.

The Arcata boys, who also dropped last weekend’s championship game at the McKinleyville tournament, are now 5-2 on the season.

Fortuna 51, Montgomery 70

The Huskies lost for the second straight night at the AIBT on Saturday.

Jaden Kelley scored a team-high 13 points for the 3-3 Huskies.

South Fork 38, California School for the Deaf 41

The Cubs lost a defensive battle in the championship game of the CSD tournament on Saturday.

Oliver Tatton and Alex Harding each scored a team-high nine points to lead a balanced team effort.

Cameron Messenger and Tyler Bates each finished with eight points.

The Cubs are now 6-3.
