By Ray Hamill — The Warriors likely won’t get lost on their way to the NorCal Regional playoff game this weekend.
Head coach Nick White and his players will leave town on Thursday, ahead of Friday night’s showdown at King’s Academy in Sunnyvale, and they will be making much of the same trip they made last weekend on the way to defeating Encinal for the North Coast Section Division-5 championship.
“The cool part is we did this before,” White said. “We’re going to stay at the same hotel, and we’re going to eat at the same place.”
This is the furthest the Warriors have ever gone in the football playoffs and preparation for the historic trip is going well, according to the coach.
The players are excited ahead of the challenge, although they will face a quick turnaround with just six days between games in addition to the travel.
Friday night’s forecast is for rain and windy conditions, much as it was last weekend, and that suits the Warriors, who are well used to playing in those conditions and have a team built to thrive in them.
This week, the team practiced again with wet footballs and White believes the turnover battle will be key in Friday’s big showdown.
Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
