By Ray Hamill — Eureka junior Alley Williams is getting ready for the trip of a lifetime.

Next summer, Williams will travel to Australia as part of the Down Under Sports series, where she will participate in multiple all-star volleyball games.

The Down Under tour annually takes high school athletes from around the country to compete in numerous different sports, including football, cross country, golf, track and field, basketball and volleyball.

Williams, who has played varsity for the past two seasons, was invited to represent California in volleyball and will depart for Queensland in July of next year.

In the meantime, she will be busy fundraising for the trip, which will be her first out of the country, and she is looking for some community support.

The junior follows in the footsteps of fellow Logger Hunter Ethridge, who has traveled with Down Under Sports to compete in track and field.

Anyone who wants to help out can donate through the Down Under Sports website, or can email Alley at alleynicole10@gmail.com.
