By Ray Hamill — She’s one of the fastest girls in the North Coast Section, and on Friday she dominated the St. Helena defense.
Fortuna sophomore Kallia Yang scored four times in a 6-1 win over the Saints, as the Huskies kicked off the NCS Division-I soccer playoffs in style.
Yang used her speed to run onto numerous through balls, and took full advantage of those opportunities with some pinpoint finishing.
She opened the Huskies’ account just four minutes in, as the home team netted five times in the first half.
“Kallia was pretty tactful in finding the back of the net tonight,” Fortuna head coach Kathleen Lynch said.
Teammate Aubrie Hall also netted twice in the win, in what was another strong team effort from the H-DNL champions.
Check out Yang’s second goal of the night here, as she uses her speed to easily slip past the St. Helena defender, running on to a beautiful pass from midfielder Sarah Killfoil, before scoring on a wonderfully-placed shot.
This past spring, Yang placed second at the NCS Redwood Empire track and field championships in the 200 meters and fifth in the 100 meters.
