By Ray Hamill — There are no shortage of standouts on this year’s Ferndale football team, with junior receiver Javier Lopez reminding us of what he brings to the table on Saturday afternoon.

Lopez scored his team’s fourth touchdown of the day midway through the second quarter on a 10-yard pass from quarterback Jenner Christiansen.

The junior standout has emerged as a top threat  at his position in recent weeks, and now has three touchdown receptions in the past three games.

“He’ll make a big play for us whenever we need it,” Ferndale head coach Clint McClurg said.

Along with an assortment of top offensive threats at the Cats’ disposal, Lopez gives McClurg and his staff yet another dimension on offense.

The 5-foot-8, 135-pound receiver also scored two touchdowns against Arcata in Ferndale’s league opener.
