Loggers post a shutout at Ukiah for third straight win

The Eureka Loggers will head into their bye week with plenty of momentum after claiming a third straight win in football on Friday night, 27-0 at Ukiah.

Offensively, it took the Loggers a while to get going, but their defense set the tone throughout, posting their first shutout since last season’s playoffs.

“Any time you get a shutout, you’re happy,” Eureka head coach Jason White said.

Quarterback Trevor Bell gave the Loggers the lead in the first half, scoring on a 25-yard scramble.

Lamarie Dunn added two touchdown runs after the interval, while Josiah Graham also scored on a 30-yard TD reception from Bell.

“Offensively we started slow, but (Ukiah) did a good job holding the ball,” White said.

The Loggers had just one opening quarter possession.

Keeb Her had a big game at inside linebacker for Eureka, including forcing a fumble that was recovered by teammate Hayden Bode.

Graham also had an interception, as did the always reliable Chase “Biscuit” Steubing on a fake punt.

Antorious Bell continued to run the ball well for the third straight week.

But the win was founded on defense.

“I was very happy with the defense,” White said.

The Loggers, who are now 3-3, will have a bye next week before heading to Chico for their final pre-league game.
