Ray Hamill/HumboldtSports.com – The Ferndale Wildcats defeated the Fortuna Huskies 13-7 on Friday night.

By Ray Hamill — After being denied the first time — barely — Ferndale’s Lane Branstetter made no mistake on his second attempt, as the Wildcats capped a 14-play drive with a one-yard scoring run in Friday night’s Milk Can game at Fortuna.

The Cats won the game 13-7, with Branstetter’s second-quarter touchdown proving to be the difference.

After Landon Gomes had broke free for a 64-yard TD earlier in the half, Branstetter’s TD run gave the visitors a 13-0 advantage.

The TD was set up on an eight-yard run by QB Jenner Christiansen.

Fortuna’s Levi Nyberg would later score on a 10-yard run to cut into the lead, but that would be as close as the Huskies would come.
